Austin Hawkins - F2F Events MD, CEO of AEO
Deputy Director of the Association of Exhibition Organisers (AE0). Over a six year period Austen was part of the team that saw revenues increase from £100,000 to over £1 million; the launch of major industry events including the AEO awards, AEO conference, AEO forums; the launch of the exhibition industry generic promotion campaign; the establishment of AEO as the significant event industry association.
Austen was then instrumental in the launch Exhibition Industry Association (EIA) a body that provided secretariat services to the Organiser, Contractor and Venue communities. Austen left EIA in October 2004 to form his own company, F2F Events. In the four years since it's launch F2F Events has increased in revenues from £0 to £¾ million; launched two national exhibitions; run 25 conferences/seminars; delivered over 100 exhibitor training forums and provided management consultancy service to the EIA and AEC/ESSA.
Darren McGrath – Learning and Development Director , General Physics UK An honours graduate in Business Management Darren started his career at Haymarket. He has extensive experience of training within the events industry and he plays a pivotal role in developing and delivering training courses within this market place. In 2004 Darren was involved in securing the contract to become the official training partner for The Association of Event Organisers which saw him work even more closely with exhibitors, venues, organisers, trade associations and suppliers worldwide. All Darren's courses epitomise his energy, passion and knowledge for helping organisations and people develop and succeed. In 2009 Darren won the coveted award as “The One to Watch” in The UK Exhibition Industry. He has worked with a number of exhibitors helping them improve their use of events and exhibitions by ensuring that all stakeholders fully understand and embrace the power of face to face and what it really takes to succeed. Currently Darren is the Learning and Development Director at General Physics, a global performance improvement company.
Simon Naudi - CEO Answers Training
Simon writes monthly columns on management and sales related topics and is regularly called to deliver events on behalf of the Associations, Universities, Training and Enterprise Councils, Business Organisations, the Chartered Institute of Training and Development and other national and international government bodies. He has a regular feature in Exhibiting magazine and has also written two books on selling; Advanced Telesales – The Definitive Guide to Success and The Gentle Art of Firm Persuasion both published by Capita.
The range of topics he presents is impressive - from introductory management to board level facilitation, from telephone selling to high-level strategic negotiations. Whatever the subject Simon's courses exhibit a common trait - his commitment to ensuring his participants gain specific skills, tips and techniques that will be translated directly into the workplace. His obvious understanding and enthusiasm for his subjects are evident in his humorous, practical and inspirational approach to training delivery. He has worked with the event industry for over 20 years selling stands, organising conferences, running exhibitor workshops and exhibiting at numerous shows. He is the training partner of the Association of Event Organisers in the UK.
Paddy Power is Group Sales and marketing Director at Early Action Group.
He has worked in the exhibition industry for 18 years. For most of that time he has been on helping companies to maximise their returns and minimise costs (and stress levels) from exhibitions and events. He works across all aspects of successful exhibiting – planning, promotion, stand staff development and effective follow up. His commercial clients include Xerox, Johnson and Johnson and Novo Nordisk and he also works for a number of ‘not for profit organisations' including The NHS, MOD and CAB. As well as working across Europe Paddy has worked for clients in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong and Australia. He has a practical approach.
